Tomorrow is the first day of the Summer Series of racing. Remember, we are splitting between A and B Portsmouth fleets; all of you were supposed to designate which fleet you preferred, when you turned in your membership forms for 2015. If you are not sure, we can work it all out tomorrow or sometime very soon. There still will be a single start for each race.
By next week, we can send out updated fleet rosters so that everyone knows who they will be scored with. Still, ALL RULES APPLY when boats meet, regardless if you are in separate fleets!
The weather looks decent, cooling off and winds at 10 mph out of the North. The rain should clear by late afternoon, so it looks promising. Jim and Kathy Kuk are providing the pontoon boat for race committee these next two weeks. We’re still looking for more, so please consider helping out!
For the entire month of July, we are gathering at Brewster’s on Portage Rd for results. Hope to see you there!
Just a reminder that there is no racing tomorrow (6/30/15), as it is the week between Spring and Summer Series. I did reserve a table at Latitude 42 at 7 pm for 12-14 and there are around 8 pf us going, so still room for a few more if anyone would like to join us. Otherwise, have a very safe and Happy 4th of July and see you on July 7th!
This is the LAST week of the Spring racing series.
Looks like a good one!
Date to remember is the year end party, which the party committee has scheduled for Saturday October 3rd.
We have a week off next week, and Summer Series begins on July 7th.
UPDATE: After a vote after sailing on 6/16/15, the 2015 ALCA Pontoon Boat Party will be on Sunday, July 19th at Jim & Kathy Kuk’s house. Further notices will be put up regarding details once we get closer to the actual date.
We have a week with no racing between the Spring and Summer series (June 30th) , and were wondering if there was an interest in getting together at Latitude 42. Depending on the number, we could reserve a large table. If there’s a huge response, we could try to get the room where we had the year-end party. We’d need to know relatively soon since it’s coming up fast. Let us know as soon as you can, so we could make some plans.
This Tuesday looks like a beautiful day coming up – Partly Cloudy, 79 degrees, with WNW winds at 10-15 shifting to the SW at 5-10 mph in the night. The most important part of this message is that we meet at Brewster’s Junction (5135 Portage Rd) after sailing! It’s by I-94 so should be convenient for most.
Next week is still in the works, we’re hoping to work out a reserved space for us somewhere (maybe Latitude 42?). However, June 9th and June 23rd, we are at Brewster’s!
We’re at week 5 and just coming off a great regatta at our home lake, we got several races in despite the rainy weather on Saturday with no wind and despite the chilly early spring temps on Sunday and strong winds. Nice job Cesar, Jesse, Win, Dave, and everyone else!
Tuesday looks like a very pleasant sunny day, with light east wind, 5-10 mph. We have a considerable amount of food left over (Lori, Margaret and Julie were the food guru’s) and would like to share it with everyone. We are meeting at Jeff Daane’s after or instead of racing. His address is 9918 East Shore Dr., Portage, 49002 (for those who want to enter it into your nav. apps). THE KEG IS DEAD……SO BYOB! Jeff said he doesn’t remember ever seeing a keg so empty!
Just a few reminders about the regatta next weekend: If you are not sailing but still want to attend the dinner, it’s $10 per person, and includes barbeque from Barrett’s Smokehouse, potato salad and coleslaw from Daanes, baked beans, and Latitude 42 beer! Sounds wonderful! Also we are asking fleet members to provide a dessert to pass, and lawn chairs if you have them. If you haven’t already registered for the regatta, and know you will not be sailing, please let us know if you intend on coming to dinner, we need a headcount at the beginning of this week. Dinner is at Win and Margaret Larsens’.
Also, it’s not too late to sign up to sail! We have about 26 boats right now, which is awesome! Thank you to all of you who are being a host house for boats – this is what’s making this regatta happen. If you haven’t volunteered as a host house but would like to, please let Dave or Cesar know, as additional sites would be helpful for last minute sign-ups. Dave’s e-mail is; dadworksmi@gmail.com and Cesar’s, csantana823@gmail.com.
Once again, we cancelled racing for the night due to inclement weather conditions. We WILL be going to Burger Town Grille this week however, around 7 PM. For the following weeks, we are planning to go to Brewster’s. Stay tuned!
